Pres. Duterte has nominated the new ambassador to Poland

Leah M. Basinang-Ruiz was among those nominated to new diplomatic posts by President Rodrigo Duterte. Ruiz was nominated for the position of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Poland with concurrent jurisdiction over Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, according to nomination papers released by Malacañang on Friday, December 21. The document was signed by Duterte on Wednesday, December 19. Meanwhile, former Department of Foreign Affairs spokesman Raul Hernandez has been nominated Philippine ambassador to Turkey with jurisdiction over Georgia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, Hernandez had previously served as ambassador to South Korea. Before then, he was DFA spokesman during the administration of Benigno Aquino III. Duterte also appointed Edward Fereira as a special envoy of the President to Kazakhstan for six months. What does a Filipino working in Poland need to go on holiday in the Philippines as per PH government requirements? If you are registered with the POEA and are returning to Poland and to the same company, you only need to register online with the Balik Manggagawa program at bmonline.ph If you are registered with the POEA to work in Poland but you transferred to a different company, or if you moved to Poland for work from another country, you are required to secure a new Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC). RECRUITMENT OF FILIPINOS FOR OVERSEAS WORK What should I do if I want to recruit workers from the Philippines? In order to recruit Filipinos for work overseas, a foreign principal/employer must first apply for accreditation and submit its job order for approval by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), the Philippine government authority that accredits foreign employers/principals, approves job orders and monitors the deployment of Filipinos for work overseas. The foreign principal is required to prove that the company is authorized/certified by the government of the country where the employer/company is located to operate its business and has the necessary documents to prove this, and that it has the permission of the government to employ non-EU nationals. Shopping Sundays in 2019

The trade ban is the law forbidding trade on Sundays. The law was introduced by leading trade union Solidarity which wants employees to be able to rest and spend time with their families and enjoy cultural life. The goal of the trade ban in Poland was to forbid any transaction activities on Sundays. This however didn’t meet with the approval of all the members of the parliament. Hence, the law contains both some exceptions and it will be implemented gradually. Starting from March 2018, the shops will operate only on the first and the last Sunday of the month. Since the beginning of 2019, we will shop freely on the last Sunday of the month only. The last step will be in 2020 when shops will operate only on 7 Sundays in the year. Those seven days will include Sundays before Christmas and Easter as well as four additional days in January, April, June and August. 27th Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity

The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (GOCC, Polish Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy, WOŚP) is one of the biggest, non-governmental, non-profit, charity organizations in Poland. The GOCC Foundation has American Heart Association Certification for providing courses in CPR and ECC, and use of high technology for medical lifesaving. 27th Grand Finale charitable fundraiser will take place on Sunday, January 13th, 2019 and huge parties are thrown around the country (and at other places where Polish people live). These are organized by volunteers, except for the biggest event which takes place at the Pałac Kultury i Nauki (Palace of Culture and Science) in Warsaw, and is managed by the GOCC itself. This year they will be raising money to purchase state-of-the-art equipment for specialist children’s hospitals in Poland.
