Travel insurance for national visa

The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs would like to inform that on December 1, 2020 amendments came into effect regarding the requirements for the travel insurances that should be provided while lodging an application for a National visa. The travel insurance meets the new requirements, if it: Offers a coverage of medical expenses up to 30, 000 euros; Is valid throughout the entire period of stay in the territory of Poland; Covers all the expenses, that might be incurred during the stay of a foreigner on the given territory, which may arise as a result of return trip obligatory because of medical reasons, necessary emergency medical treatment, hospital treatment or death. The Insurer also has to: Undertake to pay compensation to the entity which has provided medical treatment to the insured person on the basis of the sent bills, Provide with a 24-hours’ emergency call center, which accepts the declarations of eventualities that undergo the insurer’s responsibility. POEA - Travel agencies not allowed to recruit overseas workers

- The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) warned overseas job applicants anew to avoid travel agencies illegally recruiting Filipino workers for overseas employment. - Travel agencies offering overseas jobs are considered illegal recruiters because they have no license to do so. Job applicants should always make sure they are dealing with a legitimate recruiter with job orders approved by the POEA  - As part of their modus, the said travel agencies present dubious certificates of registration from the Department of Trade and Industry, which even if valid is not licensed by the POEA to engaged in recruitment activities. The POEA urges the public to disregard unsolicited job offers made by travel agencies, consultancy firms and training centers, as well as report this kind of illegal recruitment schemes and activities to POEA Operations and Surveillance Division by sending an email at poea_airb_osd@yahoo.com or contact the numbers 8722-1192/8568-0786

OFWs warned against illegal recruiters amid pandemic

Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) Administrator Bernard Olalia on Wednesday warned the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) against illegal recruiters particularly those engaged in third country recruitment. Olalia said unscrupulous individuals or groups are using the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic to entice Filipino workers abroad by offering higher salaries. “We would like to remind our OFWs against third country recruitment. They are being offered jobs with high salaries. Avoid them, Don’t be victims,” he said during the weekly forum of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). He said illegal recruiters are using different social media platforms in offering supposedly high-paying jobs to Filipinos employed overseas. New Minimum Wage 2021

Government approves 7.7 pct minimum wage hike from 2021 The Polish government has approved the amount of minimum wage for 2021. Starting from January 2021 the minimum remuneration for work will amount to PLN 2 800 (gross). This means an increase by PLN 200 compared to the lowest wage that is in force in 2020 (PLN 2 600).  In turn, the minimum hourly rate for specific civil law contracts in 2021 will be PLN 18.30 (gross) / PLN 13.50 (net). This means an increase by PLN 1.30 compared to 2020 (PLN 17).   What impact do these changes have on the procedure for legalizing a foreigner's stay in Poland on the basis of work? Sirens will be wailing across Poland's capital on Saturday as the country marked the 76th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising, a doomed revolt against the occupying Germans during World War II Sirens will sound for about a minute at 5 p.m., the hour the 1944 uprising began, bringing traffic mostly to a standstill while people stopped to pay respect to the Poles who fought and died. The Warsaw Uprising broke out August 1, 1944, with the Polish underground taking up arms against the powerful Nazi forces. They held out for 63 days before the Germans crushed the revolt. It was the largest act of resistance in any nation under German occupation during the war. The heroism of the insurgents remains a defining element in Polish national identity. Polish government proposes 7.7% minimum wage rise

Poland’s government has proposed raising the minimum monthly wage to 2,800 zloty next year, marking a 7.7% increase on the current level.  The new figure falls short of its 2019 electoral promise that a minimum wage of 3,000 zloty would be introduced before 2021. This means that full-time employees with such a minimum wage rate will earn about PLN 2,061 net. The hourly rate is to increase to PLN 18.30 gross  Currently, the rate is PLN 2600 gross, i.e. about PLN 1920 net and PLN 17 gross per hour  The proposed minimum wage will now we considered by the Council for Social Dialogue (RDS), a public body charged with negotiating the level proposed by the government each year with workers and employers.

News Release March 2, 2020 Warning on visa consultants, language training centers The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) advises Filipino seeking jobs abroad to be wary of visa consultants and language training centers that promise overseas employment in order to entice clients to avail their services. The POEA has been receiving reports that some of these institutions are enticing jobseekers by offering overseas jobs in the guise of visa assistance or language training , without necessary license or authority from the Administration, which constitutes illegal recruitment. Under the POEA Memorandum Circular No. 10, Series of 2003, local immigration consultancy agencies are required to obtain license from the POEA before engaging in the recruitment and placement activities, regardless of the visa under which deployment shall be made.
