Pinoys hold Marian pilgrimage in Poland

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Tuesday the outreach was the first outside Warsaw by embassy staff led by Philippine Ambassador to Poland Edgardo Manuel. In a news release, the DFA said Manuel led embassy officers and staff in paying tribute to the Matki Bożej Królowej Świata (Madonna, Queen of Nations/Our Lady Mediatrix of All Nations, Domacyno). The two-day event held last July 30 and 31 commenced with a holy mass at the foot of the hill where the statue of the Madonna sits. Sculpted by award-winning Filipino sculptor Eduardo Castrillo, the Madonna was brought to Poland through a donation of Mr. Stefan Masternak of Australia and Mr. Manuel Go of the Philippines. 67th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising

Poland prepares for one of its most important WWII anniversaries. August 1st will mark the 67th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising, a heroic struggle by the Polish Home Army to liberate Warsaw from Nazi occupation during World War II. Although resistors were heavily outnumbered and the promised Allied help failed to materialize, they battled for 63 days in a conflict that would ultimately claim over 250,000 lives. This year there are numerous events taking place around Warsaw to observe this landmark event in Polish history.
