Nativity Scene (szopka)

Each church builds its own unique nativity scene (szopka) for the Christmas season. Sometimes they are modern and metaphorical, sometimes with lots of details that children will love, eg. animals, angels, different figures, ornaments. Churches in Poland are usually open during the day until the evening. There is also an animated nativity scene with moving statues in Kościół Przemienienia Pańskiego (Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord) , Miodowa 13 Street (Old Town). The Nativity can be viewed every day from 10 am til 6 pm, from Christmas Day until February 2nd. Admission is free, but there is a collection box and gift shop. The proceeds go, of course, to the upkeep and renovation of the Nativity. Free entrance . Stamp in Passport during TRP application

If a foreigner files an application for a temporary residence permit during their legal stay in Poland and if the application is completed in full, the Voivode places a stamp in the travel document of the foreigner confirming that an application for granting a temporary residence permit has been filed. This stamp legalises the stay of the foreigner in Poland (even in the event of expiry of the visa or of the previous residence card) until the date of issuing a decision on the residence card, and in the case of an appeal against a negative decision until the moment when the decision made upon appeal i.e. by the Head of the Office for Foreigners) becomes binding. Note: The aforementioned stamp does not entitle the foreigner to travel to other Schengen countries or EU Member States . Pursuant to the stamp in the passport the foreigner may leave for their country of origin , although they may not return to Poland with the stamp – in order to re-enter Poland, the foreigner shou

POEA reiterates warning on email job scams

NEWS ADVISORY 27 November 2019 POEA reiterates warning on email job scams The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration reiterated its advice to overseas jobseekers to disregard emails informing them of selection for supposed employment in countries like Ireland, Poland, United Kingdom, Canada, the United States of America and other developed countries. The POEA recently got a copy of an email from an applicant verifying the authenticity of an offer she received supposedly for a job in Dublin, Ireland. The email turned out to be an absolute scam. The offer was for a permanent job as a receptionist with a salary of 21.50 Euro per hour for a two-year contract. Benefits include two day per week rest; free accommodation; 20 day paid holiday allowance; medical and dental insurance; free food during work hours; and free visa fee and plane ticket; and other too-good-to-be-true remunerations. The catch, however, is that the applicant has to pay for certain documents

POEA probes 3 agencies over placement fees

3 recruitment agencies, iniimbestigahan ng POEA THE Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) is investigating two licensed recruitment agencies that deployed Filipino workers to Poland after it was reported that they were illegally collecting excessive placement fees from applicants. POEA Administrator Bernard Olalia identified the agencies as Golden ICON Manpower Agency and PLJL Manpower Exporter Inc., both based in Ermita, Manila. Their accredited foreign recruitment agency (FRA) in Poland, HR Motives, is also being investigated. “POEA has investigated the case, and once the complainants [submit] their affidavits to the POEA, we will start the process of [determining] recruitment violation,” Olalia told The Manila Times on Thursday. According to the official, collecting placement fees beyond the amount allowed by his agency’s rules would result in the cancellation of the recruitment agencies’ license and the revocation of the FRA’s accreditation. Swiety Mikolaj (St. Nicholas)

Swiety Mikolaj (St. Nicholas) The feast of St. Nicholas is December 6th. On this day, Sw. Mikolaj would visit the homes of people in the village, dressed in his bishop's robes. When Sw. Mikolaj visited the children, he gave them a gift for being good and to remind them of the gifts given to the Christ Child by the Three Kings. Celebrating the feast day of Sw. Mikolaj remains popular with Polish people living all over the world. Many of the Christmas customs celebrated today are a result of the early visits made by St. Nicholas. For example, the candy cane given during the Christmas holidays is a simple treat symbolizing the shepherd's staff, which is carried by a bishop. Sw. Mikolaj is called the "Father of Christmas", known to children in America as "Santa Claus". #pinoyworkersinpoland #pinoysinpoland

Shopping Sundays in 2020

The trade ban is the law forbidding trade on Sundays. The law was introduced by leading trade union Solidarity which wants employees to be able to rest and spend time with their families and enjoy cultural life. The goal of the trade ban in Poland was to forbid any transaction activities on Sundays. This however didn’t meet with the approval of all the members of the parliament. Hence, the law contains both some exceptions and it will be implemented gradually. Starting March 2018, shops operates only on the first and the last Sunday of the month. Since the beginning of 2019, we shop freely on the last Sunday of the month only. The last step will be in 2020 when shops will operate only on 7 Sundays in the year. Those seven days will include Sundays before Christmas and Easter as well as four additional days in January, April, June and August. Exceptions from the ban Trade ban does NOT include cinemas, restaurants, cafés, small local stores where the owner can work, stores at g
