The
Cultural Center of the Philippines, The Embassy of Chile, The Embassy of
Brazil, University of Santo Tomas, University of Asia and the Pacific,
University of the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle
University, Coca Cola, Mc Donald’s and the Philippine Star will be conducting a
national photography essay competition entitled “ Smile for the World: A
Filipino Photo Essay Contest on Calidad Humana”.
It
is intended to showcase, through the medium of photography and a short essay,
the delight of Filipino smile as a expression of human qualities such as
friendship, steadfastness, cheerfulness, optimism, fortitude and resilience,
thus portraying a culture of excellence in society.
This
year’s competition is open to all Filipino citizens, regardless of age, place
of residence or occupation. The deadline for submission of entries is on 28
February 2013, and the awarding ceremonies are expected to be held in the first
week of July. The cash awards are US$ 1,000 for first place; US$ 600 for second
place,; and US$ 400 for the third place. There will also be non-cash prizes.
