The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Regional Welfare Office IV-A takes pride in extending assistance to all OWWA member-OFWs and families who were victims of the Taal volcano eruption, last 12 January 2020 through the distribution of calamity assistance under the Welfare Assistance Program (WAP).
Per existing guidelines, an amount of Three Thousand Pesos (Php 3,000.00) is given to active OWWA members while those inactive ones are entitled to One Thousand Five Hundred (Php 1,500.00).
As of 18 February 2020, a total of Seven Million Three Hundred Ninety-Two (Php 7,392,000.00) was already released covering Three Thousand Four Hundred Thirty-Nine (3,439) OFWs and their dependents in the calamity declared areas of Batangas and Cavite provinces. Distribution of assistance were done at RWO IV-A premises at Calamba, Laguna and various municipalities such as Sto. Tomas, Malvar, and Laurel.
OWWA RWO IV-A will be proceeding to Talisay, Cuenca, Balete, Tanauan, Taal, Lemery and Mataas Na Kahoy to provide calamity assistance to affected OFWs and their qualified beneficiaries residing within the 14KM danger zone and are under state of calamity as declared by Phivolcs and/or the NRMDC.
Calamity assistance in this region commenced last 27 January 2020 and last day of applications will be on 12 April 2020 only.
