Who is subject to mandatory quarantine?
Currently, there are four categories of people who are subject to quarantine:
1. selected categories of foreigners who cross the border of the Republic of Poland which is the external EU border - for 10 days, counting from the day following the day of border crossing;
2. persons who had close contact with an infected person, e.g. at work or school - for 10 days, counting from the day following the contact; and
3. the persons referred to a COVID-19 test - from the day of the referral to the test until a negative test result is obtained, which automatically releases the persons from mandatory quarantine, or automatically after 10 days without COVID-19 symptoms.
Legislation does not provide for mandatory quarantine for persons who live with a person who has been referred for a test, both asymptomatic (suspected of COVID-19) and symptomatic (suspected of COVID-19), while that person is waiting for the test result. Only when the tested person receives a positive test result are the members of his or her household placed under quarantine and the quarantine of the tested person changes to isolation.
4. persons living with an infected (isolated) person -
stage 1 of the quarantine (continuous exposure) - includes the period of residence with the person in isolation (infected person);
stage 2 of the quarantine (post-exposure period) - 7 days from the day following the last day of isolation of the infected person.
Important! From 28 December 2020 to present, compulsory quarantine will be imposed on persons who have crossed Poland’s border (both an external and an internal EU border) by plane, bus, or other means of collective transport - for 10 days, counting from the day following the day on which the border was crossed.
Important! If you have been vaccinated for COVID-19, you will not be quarantined. This rule applies from 28 December 2020.
