Travel insurance for national visa




The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs would like to inform that on December 1, 2020 amendments came into effect regarding the requirements for the travel insurances that should be provided while lodging an application for a National visa.

The travel insurance meets the new requirements, if it:
  • Offers a coverage of medical expenses up to 30, 000 euros;
  • Is valid throughout the entire period of stay in the territory of Poland;
  • Covers all the expenses, that might be incurred during the stay of a foreigner on the given territory, which may arise as a result of return trip obligatory because of medical reasons, necessary
  • emergency medical treatment, hospital treatment or death.
The Insurer also has to:
  • Undertake to pay compensation to the entity which has provided medical treatment to the insured person on the basis of the sent bills,
  • Provide with a 24-hours’ emergency call center, which accepts the declarations of eventualities that undergo the insurer’s responsibility.

In case the insurer does not reside or possess a branch in the territory of Poland, UE member states, EFTA member states that are party of EEA, or the Swiss Confederation, as described in Paragraph 3 of Article 4 of the Law on the Regulations for the Foreign Enterprises or Individuals Participating in the Economic Circulation in the territory of Poland from March 6, 2018, the insurer has to meet additional requirements, i. e.:
  • Has to publish the audit results: the audit has to be carried out by a renounced international auditing organization and has to contain information the actual possibilities to settle the complaints made by the entities that provide medical services on the territory of Poland:
  • At least once in every six months has to publish data on the gathered premiums as well as the amount of insurance compensations paid for this type of insurances.

Travel insurance for national visa

Please note that a medical insurance is compulsory. You can provide either a policy from an insurance company based in Europe or one of the Philippines based companies listed below. Only the listed insurance companies recommended for national visa are accepted by the Embassy of the Republic Poland in Manila. If you provide insurance from a different company based in the Philippines, the policy will not be accepted. The sum insured has to exceed 30.000 Euro. The insurance policy shall be valid for Schengen area. The policy must cover the entire period of the visa validity. The choice of a particular health insurance is up to the Visa applicant.

Remark: Please notify the Embassy if you experience the following situations:
  1. Your insurance company refuses to pay for medical expenses incurred in the Schengen area.
  2. Your insurance company refuses to fully refund costs of insurance purchase in case of visa refusal upon presentation of official proof of rejection from the Embassy

Flour types in Poland

Flour type, according to Polish food regulations, means the content of ashes in it (i.e. the remains after complete burning of the organic ingredients in a sample of the product at a determined temperature). Ii is expressed in gramms/100 kg of flour. For example: type 500 means that in every 100 kg of flour there's around 500 g of ashes, and type 850 means that in every 100 kg the content of ashes is around 850 g. Police clearance certificate in Poland

The certificate is issued by the Information State Bureau of Criminal Register of the Ministry of Justice of Poland. The certificated may be apostilled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland.
