Independence Day (Święto Niepodległości) in Warsaw





In Warsaw, official gathering and celebrations will be held at Pilsudski Square (Plac Piłsudskiego) in the city center, starting at 12 pm with Polish national anthem and ceremonious changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier with the participation of the army and President.

From 1 pm on Krakowskie Przedmieście street, there will be held the independence festival (3 stages, concerts, dancing shows etc.).

Attractions include concerts, film screenings, Polish food, dance shows, parade of vintage cars. Kids Zone next to the Academy of Fine Arts, Krakowskie Przedmieście 5 Street (kids music group, theaters for children, karaoke, arts and crafts workshop, radio broadcast workshop, contests and games). Independence Day at the Polish Army Museum

Location: the area next to and inside the Museum of Polish Army (Muzeum Wojska Polskiego), Jerozolimskie 3 Street (city center), 10 am – 4 pm, free entrance. Attractions include armaments, uniforms and equipment used by Polish army paratroopers, a choir concert, games, Polish food.









Shopping on November 11: Sunday trading ban – stores are closed

There are new regulations in Poland – stores can operate only 2 Sundays a month (usually first and last Sunday of the month). Sunday trading ban in November 2018: November 11 and November 18.

Only some smaller local convenience stores can be open (eg. Żabka). You can always do basic shopping at the gas stations (24/7)
