Beware of illegal recruitment schemes for alleged jobs in Poland
The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) advises Filipinos whowish to work in Poland to be wary of illegal recruitment schemes and other
unscrupulous persons in view of announced high demand of job opportunities in the
said country.
The Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in Geneva, which has jurisdiction over
Poland, reported a scheme whereby prospective job applicants are made to sign
contracts in the Philippines and charged exorbitant fees for their visa appearance in
Malaysia, only to be deployed without guaranteed regular employment in the jobsite.
POLO Geneva also reported that OFWs pay at least P269,000 to their Philippine
recruiters, with some borrowing money from lending agencies referred by the recruiters
at usurious interests.
POEA reminds Filipinos seeking jobs in Poland to be cautious of illegal recruiters and to
only transact with licensed recruitment agencies with job orders approved by the
Administration.
Also, POEA urges the Filipino overseas job seekers to be vigilant and report any
suspected illegal recruitment schemes and activities to POEA Anti-Illegal Recruitment
Branch at 722-11-92 or at POEA Hotline numbers 722-11-44 or 722- 11-55. ###
