Maya is a victim of the “school service", a vehicle that looks like a regular school bus. She was just walking home from school when the bus stopped beside her and the driver offered her a ride. However, the bus did not stop at her place. Maya was taken, together with other kids, to Manila to become a beggar. At dusk, the kids are dropped off in the street so they can start working: chasing after passers-by and cars, begging for alms. Maya begins a horrific life in a strange city and cannot stop thinking about how to get home. But that might never happen… A shocking portrayal of children living in the streets in the Philippines, working for organized crime rings.

Film, TV and music video director, also an active painter. Born in the Philippines in 1968. He studied mass communication at the Centro Escolar University in Manila. He has created numerous music videos, TV series and shows, including “Full House Tonight” (2017) and “The Clash” (2018). He has directed several indie films, including “Asintado” (2014), which was screened at various festivals, and “Child Haus” (2015), which won the Best Children Film Award at the Dhaka International Film Festival. “School Service” (2018) is his latest feature film.

Opis:
Maya jest ofiarą „school service”, który z zewnątrz wygląda jak normalny autobus szkolny. Dziewczynka wracała ze szkoły, kiedy autobus zatrzymał się i kierowca zaoferował jej podwiezienie. Jednak nie zatrzymał się przy jej domu. Maya wraz z innymi dziećmi została uprowadzona do Manili, by zostać żebraczką. O zmierzchu dzieci są wyrzucane na ulice, aby zacząć pracę – zatrzymywać przechodniów, samochody i błagać o jałmużnę. Maya zaczyna potworne życie w obcym mieście i wciąż myśli tylko o powrocie do domu. Jednak to może się nigdy nie wydarzyć… Wstrząsający obraz filipińskich dzieci ulicy, które pracują dla zorganizowanych grup przestępczych.

Reżyser filmowy i telewizyjny, twórca teledysków, malarz. Urodzony na Filipinach w 1968 roku. Studiował komunikację społeczną na Uniwersytecie Centro Escolar w Manili. Zrealizował liczne teledyski, seriale i programy telewizyjne, m.in.: „Full House Tonight” (2017) czy „The Clash” (2018). Jest reżyserem filmów niezależnych, takich jak: „Asintado” (2014), który był prezentowany na festiwalach na całym świecie, czy „Child Haus” (2015), który otrzymał nagrodę dla najlepszego filmu dla dzieci na festiwalu filmowym w Dhace. „School Service” (2018) to jego najnowszy film.
