Description:
In the Philippines, women often get deployed abroad to work as domestic workers or nannies. They leave their own children and families behind and set off on a journey into the big unknown. At a special learning centre, they are prepared for what is to come. They learn how to do all kinds of domestic work but also prepare themselves for the abuse they will likely face. In role-playing exercises, they play the worker's role as well as that of the employer. The documentary sheds light on the question of domestic slavery in our globalized world while emphasizing these women's determination, their sisterhood, and the strategies they find to face obstacles.
Filipińskie kobiety często zostają zatrudnione jako pomoc domowa lub nianie poza granicami swojego kraju. Zostawiają dzieci, rodziny i wyruszają w podróż, która jest tak naprawdę wielką niewiadomą. W specjalnym ośrodku edukacyjnym przygotowują się na to, co może je spotkać. Uczą się wykonywać różne czynności domowe, ale też przygotowują na nadużycia, jakie prawdopodobnie będą musiały znosić. Podczas ćwiczeń w ośrodku wcielają się w rolę zarówno pracownicy, jak i pracodawczyni. Dokument rzuca światło na kwestie współczesnego niewolnictwa i służebności w zglobalizowanym świecie. Podkreśla jednocześnie determinację kobiet, ich siostrzeństwo i sposoby, jakimi radzą sobie z trudnościami.
